What is the difference between CG (Computer Generated Design) and CAD (Computer-Aided Design)?

CG - Computer Graphics

Computer Graphics are images that are created with computer software that is 2D, 3D, vector, pixel art or animation. Almost everything that isn't a photograph that you see online is computer generated imaging.

CAD - Computer-Aided Design

Sometimes also known as computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), CAD is the use of computer technology for the process of design and design documentation. Current computer-aided design software packages range from 2D vector-based drafting systems to 3D solid and surface modelers, and sometimes even allow rotations in three dimensions (see our example below), allowing viewing of a designed object from any desired angle, even from the inside looking out. The main use for CAD is for design of tools and machinery and is an important component of design for invention dimensions and prototype specs
